Experience the joy of fostering. We connect children with nurturing families, building lasting bonds and creating a brighter future for our community together.
Every child deserves a loving, safe, and nurturing home. Sadly, in California, the number of children entering the foster care system is increasing while the number of available foster parents is decreasing.
Mia's Homes Foster Family Agency is a nonprofit organization on a mission to close this gap by finding nurturing homes for English and bilingual foster children, including those with challenging placements. We strive to maintain family connections and encourage families of all backgrounds to join our mission.
Proudly providing exceptional foster care services to San Bernardino, Los Angeles, Riverside, and Orange Counties, our skilled and diverse team is committed to supporting children and families in need, with an emphasis on reuniting families.
We take immense pride in certifying homes that not only provide a safe haven for children, but also the compassionate care and attention required for them to prosper in a secure and steady environment.

Is there compensation for fostering?
Foster parents receive a daily or monthly tax-free stipend from the state intended to help cover the child's needs. This includes costs related to food, clothing, school supplies, personal care items, and reasonable travel. It's important to note that this is not considered income by the IRS, so it is not taxable.
The exact amount of the stipend varies based on several factors, including the state, the age of the child, and the child's specific needs. Get in contact with us for more information on the amount you can expect to receive.
How many children can I have?
You can have up to 6 children in the home.
How long does a child typically stay in foster care?
The length of stay in foster care varies greatly. Some children may stay for a few days, others for a few weeks, several months, or even years. The primary goal is always to safely reunite children with their biological families whenever possible.
Can I foster if I live in an apartment?
Yes, a parent can have up to 2 infants in their room and 4 children in a spare room.
Can I work full time and still be a foster parent?
Yes, many foster parents work full time. Depending on the needs of the child, appropriate childcare arrangements must be made.
Can I foster if I am a single parent?
Yes, you do not need to be married to become a foster parent. Single adults can and do make excellent foster parents.
Can I become a foster parent if I have a criminal record?
Having a criminal record does not automatically disqualify you from becoming a foster parent. However, it does depend on the nature of the offense and how long ago it occurred.
Serious violent crimes, crimes against children, and certain types of drug offenses may disqualify a person from becoming a foster parent. The California Department of Social Services will review any criminal history to determine if the applicant can provide a safe home for a child.
